1980 - 1999 Koan Mk1

Koan p/l was launched in the early 80's in Sydney as a creative design studio, specialising in theatre, cabaret and music.

We expanded into a multi-disciplined full service agency, providing media, marketing and creative production services for theatre, large scale musicals and live events. Koan created and ran the marketing for The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, Sunset Boulevard, Rent, Five Guys Named Moe and many more, with productions travelling across Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

We had great fun working on around 170 theatrical productions, with some of them running for many years and making enduring friendships in the process.

Koan also provided creative design services to launch new businesses, and community and sporting events.

Creative design and production of visual and broadcast materials for large scale musicals: Mary Poppins (UK & Australia), Muriel's Wedding, King Kong, Billy Elliot (UK & Australia), Love Never Dies, Strictly Ballroom, Mamma Mia!, Hairspray, Cabaret, The Lion King (UK & Australia), We Will Rock You, Oliver, Priscilla the Musical, Avenue Q, La Soirée, Club Swizzle, Matilda, The Mousetrap, Beatbox; and events - Ceremonies of the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games (UK), Walking With Dinosaurs.

Design & image for musicians, and specialist design communications for executive development organisations.
